  • A moving average is the trend in one line — the slope of the line is the direction of the trend.
  • An EMA weights the latest closes, so it turns faster than an SMA: earlier signals, but more whipsaw.
  • Short MAs hug price and whip; long MAs (50, 200) define the bigger trend — pick the period for the job.
  • Golden cross = fast MA over slow (bullish); death cross = fast under slow (bearish). Both lag the turn.
  • In a trend, price pulls back to the MA and bounces — a rising MA is support, a falling MA is resistance.
  • A fanned-out ribbon means a strong trend; a tangled ribbon means no trend — trade the fan, not the tangle.
  • Price above a rising, in-order stack is an uptrend; below a falling stack is a downtrend; flat and crossed is a range.
  • Wide separation and a steep slope mean a strong trend; converging MAs mean it is weakening.
  • Trade in the direction the MAs point — enter on pullbacks to the MA, never fight the stack.
