The Pairs

Every pair has its own habits. The euro pair has the tightest spread, the yen pair carries the Bank of Japan's line, and the Australian dollar moves with iron ore. This stage teaches you each major, cross and exotic on its own terms. You'll learn its pip value, its spread, its session and what drives it, then pick the right pair for the job. Eleven lessons, and the last one asks you to choose.

Stage 67 of the TradeWize forex track: each pair on its own terms. The seven majors and the dollar, the yen and the franc, the commodity currencies, the crosses, the exotics, correlation, and which pair to trade at which hour.

  • Every major is a dollar trade, and I know which side of the dollar I am on.
  • The yen is the funding currency, and a yen pair carries the BoJ's line.
  • A commodity currency moves with its commodity, and I check the commodity before the pair.
  • An exotic pays a wide spread and a big swap every night, and I price both before I look at the chart.
  • Two correlated pairs are one position, and I count them as one.
