The Auction

Every trading day is a room of buyers and sellers calling prices until they agree. You'll turn a day's candles on their side, count the time spent at each price, and find where the day lived and where it only passed through. Then the first hour, the kind of day it became, and the first and last minutes of trading. Eleven lessons, and the last one reads a day you've never seen.

Stage 70 of the TradeWize advanced track: you'll build the day's profile from its candles and read its value area, its initial balance, its day type, the open and the closing auction.

  • Price advertises, time regulates and volume confirms, and value is where the market spends its time.
  • The value area is the middle seventy percent of the day's time, and its edges are my first levels.
  • The initial balance's share of the range names the day type, and the day type names my trade.
  • The first thirty minutes tell me who is in control, and the open type is the first thing I name.
  • The close is an auction with a published imbalance, and I know which side is on it by 3:50.
