Advanced Strategies and Hedging

Every strategy belongs to one of four families, and you'll learn to name the one you're running. Then you'll compute each setup instead of guessing at it: rank a list, measure a stretch, size two stocks as one position, and size a trade by how much the market swings. After that, the dates that move prices, and a hedge for a whole book. Eleven lessons, and whether any of it has an edge is the next stage's question.

Stage 73 of the TradeWize advanced track: you'll run momentum, mean reversion, pairs, volatility and event setups as computed rules, then hedge a whole book by ratio.

  • Every strategy is trend, mean reversion, carry or event, and I know which one I am running.
  • A z-score tells me how stretched the price is, and I enter at the stretch and exit at the mean.
  • A pair is one position on the spread, and the two legs are sized so the spread is what I own.
  • The expected move is the VIX times the square root of time, and my size scales to it.
  • My hedge is beta times exposure, and what is left after it is the bet I actually have.
